They have cording around the edges that make them look finished and I think over time will prevent wear and tear. The cushion is also like memory foam...firm and more supportive of your bum than poly fill cushions. I have not left them out in the rain, so can't speak to the water proofing, but the fabric seems like it would repel water. The quality is very good. Cushions are well made and materials seem to be of quality. They are new, so time will tell. I’ve read other reviews that may not share my opinion, but this, so far, has been my experience. I received free next day delivery and they arrived right on time. I did not rate them for water resistance because it has not yet rained. My balcony is under an overhang, but I will bring them in during windy rainstorms if possible. I would recommend these cushions to anyone including friends and family.
